Ornamental Peppers, we have them. They are a great addition to pots for the summer, to add color and literally SPICE to your containers or bed!. All of these varieties are edible, and most are hot, great for adding a touch of spice to your soup or stir fry.
Ornamental Peppers appreciate a sunny spot outside, and occasional fertilizer for the active summer growing season. It's possible to bring them in for the winter, if you have a warm and very sunny window.

As the pots and container gardens I've been planting have been filling in, the combinations that were in my head are now growing and combining and doing exactly what I had wanted! I'll be posting occasionally through the summer on these exciting combos. After all, it's all about color, and how color matches it's neighbor. Above we have the new Pretty Much Picasso Petunia, with its deep purple throat picking up the color of its neighbor, Tradescantia, a vining foliage plant. The feature of Pretty...

With Memorial Day weekend coming up, now is the traditional planting time for your vegetable garden. We have a wide selection of heirloom and hybrid tomatoes available in individual pots for sale. If you want to try only one of each kind, instead of having to buy a pack, come see us! We will have over 60 types! Some of my favorites are 'Sun Sugar', a hybrid yellow cherry tomato with the same sweetness as 'Sun Gold', but with more crack resistance. It's sweet as candy in the summer! Another favorite...

Peonies that is! Our rockii hybrids are finishing up blooming, and now we are on to the American hybrids, the Daphnis, Saunders, and Gratwick hybrids. They have been in bloom for us for a few days now in the gardens. I'm sure this will be busy weekend at Linwood Gardens Festival of Tree Peonies (www.linwoodgardens.org) With the predicted heat coming this week, I'm sure that this weekend and the following weekend will be the best weekends for viewing. If you're thinking of taking a trip to our...

The always anticipated shipment from Iseli Nursery has arrived! We have some really great dwarf conifers for that special spot in your rock garden or trough. These are what I call "toys" for your garden! Special small trees and evergreens for a variety of uses. We have folks buy these for their railroad gardens and for bonsai, for stand alone plants for containers and mixed in with other low miniature plant like Sedums and Sempervivums. Their very slow growth rate makes them suitable in small gardens....

Our tree peonies in the nursery are starting to bloom. This is a perfect time to pick out the color you are looking for, as it is so hard to describe color once it is out of bloom.
For example, this is one of our chinese rockii hybrids, Ye Guang Bai, that I would describe as deep burgundy, however some may describe it as a deep purple, or even black.
Our peonies are starting to bloom now, and will continue for the next several weeks. The general sequence of bloom is the rockii hybrids, followed...

Even though it's a little early, I'm already thinking about the exciting plant combinations to be created this season with the new pottery we have in! Thats what makes glazed pottery so exciting, is that you have the added benefit of playing with the colors of the pot AND the colors of your mix of plants. I think there is a form of coleus that would match any color pot out there. We have some glazed pots this season with purple tones that have endless possibilities.

We are open for the season, and it's an early one this year! The weather has us chasing our tails! We are not fully stocked yet (it is only April 10th even though our gardens tell us it's not), but we do have a nice selection of shrubs. There are some great varieties of Lilacs, and a really nice Star Magnolia called Waterlily thats been catching my eye. This one has pink buds that open with a tint of pink remaining for a while, then fading to white. Nice! Right now we also have huge selection of...
