Peonies are starting to bloom

Our tree peonies in the nursery are starting to bloom. This is a perfect time to pick out the color you are looking for, as it is so hard to describe color once it is out of bloom. For example, this is one of our chinese rockii hybrids, Ye Guang Bai, that I would describe as deep burgundy, however some may describe it as a deep purple, or even black. Colorful Pottery!

Even though it's a little early, I'm already thinking about the exciting plant combinations to be created this season with the new pottery we have in! Thats what makes glazed pottery so exciting, is that you have the added benefit of playing with the colors of the pot AND the colors of your mix of plants. I think there is a form of coleus that would match any color pot out there. We have some glazed pots this season with purple tones that have endless possibilities.

We are open for the season.

We are open for the season, and it's an early one this year! The weather has us chasing our tails! We are not fully stocked yet (it is only April 10th even though our gardens tell us it's not), but we do have a nice selection of shrubs. There are some great varieties of Lilacs, and a really nice Star Magnolia called Waterlily thats been catching my eye.
